2001 ANNUAL MEETING

Dear Ohio Valley Toxicologists and Friends:

The Ohio Valley Society of Toxicology (OVSOT) is pleased to provide this ANNOUNCEMENT for our upcoming Annual Meeting on Friday, November 16, 2001, at the EPA Facility in Cincinnati, Ohio (26 West Martin Luther King Drive, Cincinnati, OH).

The main topic of the meeting is "Analytical Tools for Toxicology: Proteomics, Microarrays, NMR and Yeast Assays". The scientific session is scheduled to start at 9:30 am and conclude around 4:30 pm. We have five excellent Speakers planned. The scientific sessions will focus on the application of several new technologies in toxicology and safety assessment.

A more complete agenda with driving instructions and other important details will be sent within the next few weeks. In the meantime, we hope you'll mark your calendars and plan to join us for this interesting and highly informative program.

As in past years, there will be a concurrent poster session in which cash awards will be given to the top graduate student posters as determined by a panel of judges. Poster abstracts may be sent to the Chair of the Awards Committee, Dr. Dan Wierda, at wierda_daniel@lilly.com. All interested scientists are urged to submit an abstract and present their research at the meeting. It is acceptable to present posters that have been presented at a previous scientific meeting. See the attached memorandum for further details.

Poster Presentation Information, Guidelines and Rules

On the day before the Annual OVSOT meeting, the Chapter is sponsoring a Teacher-Toxicologist Workshop aimed at promoting toxicology education in the Junior High classroom. The Workshop will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, November 15, at the same location as the OVSOT Annual Meeting (EPA, Cincinnati, OH). Regional toxicologists interested in attending the Workshop and serving as mentors to the teachers are urged to sign-up by e-mailing the workshop organizer, Dr. Hollie Swanson, at hswan@pop.uky.edu. Please consider volunteering to serve as a mentor at the Teacher-Toxicologist Workshop on November 15.
