Why be a Student Member of SOT?
Why Be a Student Member of SOT?
There are many reasons for a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow
to become a student member of the Society of Toxicology.
- Members have access to the SOT online Career Resource and
Development Services, which should prove to be very helpful
in locating a job once you graduate.
- Members can apply for
Student Awards and Fellowships.
- Members receive four issues
of SOT's newsletter,
Communiqué. The
newsletter will keep you up-to-date on the latest information
of interest to members of the Society.
- Members can join Specialty
Sections (SS) and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). As a
student member, you will receive the first SS and SIG you choose
at no cost. The SSs and SIGs
offer an opportunity to meet others working in your topic
area or who share other common interests.
- Members can get involved by joining committees such as the
Graduate Student Leadership Committee.
- Membership also shows that you
are involved in your science and would improve your resumé.
You can also join one of the Society’s 18 Regional Chapters
(RCs) that hold regular local meetings throughout the year and
sponsor awards.
The purpose of the Regional Chapters is to foster scientific exchange
at a local level.
The RCs and SSs have awards
and other funding to support students.
