San Diego City Tour and Harbor Cruise: This informative journey through America’s
finest city will introduce you to San Diego past, present, and future. Your

museums and galleries housed in buildings of Spanish-Moorish architecture.
Then sit back and enjoy a one-hour fully narrated tour on San Diego Bay aboard
a Harbor Excursions boat with scenic views of Coronado, North Island, the Embarcadero,
and Cabrillo National Park. Finally, off to picturesque “Old Town” the
first European settlement in California, where you will have some free time
to admire the unique shops, sample some local fare, or travel back to Early
San Diego through the historic displays throughout Old Town. “America’s
Finest City,” is waiting to be discovered! Tour fee includes all transportation,

The cultural heart of San Diego, has more than 1,100 acres of sprawling green

realm of anthropology and science, to the history of transportation. Displays
of internationally significant art treasures, unique model railroads, world
folk art, sports memorabilia, and rare aircraft – to name a few – are
on view. The museums along Balboa Park’s Prado are housed in magnificent
Spanish Colonial Revival buildings, and serve as reminders of the two world’s
fairs that brought Balboa Park to the attention of the world: the Panama California
Exposition of 1915–1916 and the California Pacific International Exposition
of 1935–1936. This unique urban park, minutes away from downtown San
Diego, is renown for its brilliant displays of seasonal flowers, shady groves

Patriots Tour and the USS Midway
Wednesday, March 8, 2006
10:00 AM–2:00 PM
$67.00 per person
Experience Midway Magic aboard the historic carrier Midway, the nation’s
newest naval aviation museum.
The USS Midway set new standards of naval aviation in the latter half of the
20th Century. A captured German V-2 rocket was launched off the USS Midway
in 1946—the dawn of naval missile warfare. The USS Midway blazed new
trails of sub-Arctic air operations off the coast of Greenland. It was the
first carrier home ported in a foreign country, calling Yokosuka, Japan home
for 18 years. When others came home, the USS Midway remained at the “tip
of the sword” on an odyssey shared by 200,000 Americans that spanned
the surrender of Japan in WWII, the Cold War, Vietnam, the era of détente,
and Desert Storm.
Located on San Diego Bay in downtown San Diego at Navy Pier, Midway will continually
expand as a dynamic, enriching experience. A visit to Midway will instill a
greater appreciation for naval aviation, service to country and sacrifice.
Visitors marvel at a floating “city at sea” and share in an odyssey
that began in 1945 when Midway was commissioned as the largest ship in the
world.
Then you will be boarding the amphibious SEAL vehicle, for a drive along the
beautiful Embarcadero of San Diego Bay, hearing tales of the earliest roles
of each of the branches of the service in our local history. Entering the water,
we cruise alongside North Island Naval Air Station, where aviation activity
may include helicopters in the air performing hovering exercises, and S-#3
Vikings making touch and go landings on the main landing strip. North Island
Naval Air Station is officially known as the “Birthplace of Naval Aviation.” Photograph
opportunities abound during the water portion of our tour. Often we see members
of the elite fighting force, Navy SEALS, training on the Bay, and many types
of aircraft flying maneuver in and out of North Island Naval Air Station. Tour
fee includes all transportation, tour of embarcadero of San Diego Bay, admission
to museum and all taxes and gratuities.
Behind the Scenes at the San Diego Zoo
Thursday, March 9, 2006
12:00 PM–4:00 PM
$67.00 per person
See the San Diego Zoo the way everyone wishes they could—from behind
the scenes. The Inside Story gives guests an exclusive, two-hour tour that’s
filled with experiences and information you couldn’t get anywhere else.
You’ll find out, for instance, what flamingos have in common with hot
dogs and just how much it costs to feed 4,000 animals every day! The adventure
begins with a guide to greet your group, followed by private three-mile guided
bus tour, a visit to two off-exhibit areas, and unlimited stay on Zoo grounds
for the remainder of the day.
There are many thrilling behind-the-scenes areas that may be included:
• The giraffe barn, where you’ll visit the giraffes’ bedroom.
You’ll also watch from up close as your tour guide offers them browse
to eat.
• The forage warehouse, where you’ll see the myriad of foods
it takes to feed all the Zoo’s inhabitants. Even more interesting
are the diets posted on the wall, listing the menus—everything
from bear breakfasts to dingo dinners.

inside the enclosure and walk among these enormous tortoises.
• The elephant barn, where you’ll venture into the cavernous elephant
bedrooms, and see an elephant keeper’s tools of the trade.

most endangered animals!

gratuities.
