Platform Sessions
Chairperson Guidelines

As a chairperson for a Platform Session, you are encouraged to review the abstracts in your session which will be available for review from January through April on-line at http://www.toxicology.org/ai/meet/am2007/it_planner.asp.

During the discussion of the paper, make certain that all persons addressing the topic or question use the floor microphones provided. Chairpersons can assist in providing the portable microphones to the speaker posing the question. Also request each of the persons asking a question to identify himself/herself by name and institution.

The audiovisual equipment available for this session includes a digital projector for PowerPoint presentations, a podium with microphone and a floor microphone. To minimize setup delays for PowerPoint presentations, each presenter should copy their presentation to the hard drive of the computer in the room in which their session will be held the night before the session or at least 1 hour prior to the start of the session. The presentation should be copied into the appropriate session folder. The file name should begin with the speaker’s last name. As a chairperson, please check 15 minutes prior to the session to see if the presentations have been loaded onto the computer.

Prior to your session, please familiarize yourself with the emergency instructions stated in the SOT Annual Meeting Program. Should a fire or medical emergency occur during your session, please remain calm and follow the instructions listed.

NOTE:
In the event that a speaker does not show up for his/her talk, we ask that you NOT skip to the next presentation. You should engage the audience by discussing previous talks, opening the floor to questions, or the session should break for the allotted talk time equivalent to the missing presentation.

Annual Meeting attendees use the Final Program and online Itinerary Planner to schedule their time to attend particular talks and going out of order impacts their full participation.

We appreciate your assistance in keeping the platform sessions on schedule. You should note that SOT makes every attempt to contact the chairperson of a course in the event that we are notified of a potential no-show. This is either done before the Annual Meeting or on site through the electronic message center.
