Member Benefits
Members of the Society of Toxicology are practicing toxicologists and
scientists from allied disciplines who are dedicated to advancing the
science of toxicology to enhance human, animal, and environmental health.
Members have many opportunities to collaborate with like-minded professionals
and engage in leadership activities—at meetings, through committee service,
and other special groups.
Members receive reduced registration costs for the SOT Annual Meeting—the
largest of its kind in the world, which fosters collegial exchange of
the latest scientific findings among approximately 6,000 participants.
Only members may submit unsponsored abstracts of original science for
presentation at the meeting.
Members receive the electronic publications The Toxicologist and
Communiqué, and are eligible for reduced-rate subscriptions to the print Toxicological Sciences and other journals. They receive the Annual Meeting Program and the printed Membership Directory, and have access to the SOT Web site On-Line Membership Directory and membership section of the SOT Web site. Associate and Full members receive the electronic version of Toxicological Sciences at no cost.
Specialty Sections provide a forum for networking with peers who share
an interest in your area of toxicology. Cutting-edge research is fostered
through 20 SOT Specialty Sections that may propose
sessions for the Annual Meeting, exchange information via newsletter,
present awards and participate in other scientific activities. Members
are encouraged to join as many Specialty Sections as are relevant to
their work.
NEW!! One of the strategic goals of SOT is to increase the diversity
and inclusiveness of the organization, and SOT promotes and facilitates
the formation of Special Interest Groups, subgroups of members such as
those with a common ethnicity, country of origin or gender. Student members
can receive the first Specialty Section and Special Interest Group selected
at no cost.
Members may also join one of eighteen Regional Chapters that encourage
scientific exchange at a local level. Regional Chapters organize regular
local meetings throughout the year and sponsor awards.
Career Resource and Development Services
provide SOT members with the Job Bank, a year-round on-line service linking
job candidates with employers and positions in toxicology and related
biological sciences. Student members can use this service at no charge.
The Job Bank Center is offered on-site at the Annual Meetings.

Register Your Membership with The Chemical/Biological Terrorism
Task Force
Bringing the Society of Toxicology to mind when questions are asked
and when decisions are made about chemical and biological hazards,
exposures to these substances, and risk (or lack thereof) is important
for the enhancement of our discipline. There are times when information
asked of toxicologists can respond to a very specific need, which is
true in times of local, regional, national or international emergency.
The Chemical/Biological Terrorism Task Force has contributed to the
SOT Web site by providing information on Bioterrorism/
Chemicals Resources and Bioterrorism
Links. In addition, the Task Force is has worked to position
SOT and its members to be the source for specific expert advice that
could
be utilized upon request from government agencies and other valid organizations
in need of this expertise for strategic planning or tactical response.
The Task Force has developed a detailed questionnaire
for identifying SOT members with specific expertise. The Task Force
encourages all SOT members, even those that think their areas of expertise
are peripheral to chemical and biological terrorism, to participate,
as expertise in hazard evaluation, exposure evaluation, and risk assessment
are especially valuable. Access
the questionnaire for the registry.
