SOT Postdoctoral Officers Responsibilities
PDA Executive Board
Chair: The primary responsibilities of the Chair include general oversight of Postdoctoral Assembly activities. The Chair will be the primary contact person for Council and for the Council Liaison to the PDA.
Vice Chair: The primary responsibility of
the Vice-Chair is to assist the Chair, and prepare to serve as the next
Chair. The Vice-Chair oversees the postdoctoral section of the Web site and the Best Postdoctoral Publication Awards.
Secretary: The primary responsibility of the Secretary is to record meeting minutes and serve as the point of communication about postdoctoral activities for other SOT Committees (Student Advisory, Membership, and Education). This may include the organization of any proposed co-sponsored workshops with SAC at the Annual Meeting. The term for this position is two years.
Treasurer: The primary responsibility of Treasurer is to monitor funds, conduct the annual postdoc survey, and assist with election procedures. The term is one year.
Councilor: The
primary responsibility of Councilor is to serve as a point of communication
for the postdoctoral membership to the Board, including oversite of the postdoctoral representatives from Regional Chapters, Special Interest Groups, and Specialty Sections. The term is one year.
Other Leadership Positions
Committee Representative: Some SOT Committees invite the PDA Executive Board to appoint a postdoctoral scholar to serve as an ad hoc member of the committee to provide the perspective of, and communication with, SOT postdoctoral scholars.
Regional Chapter, Specialty Section, and Special Interest Groups Representative: Each component group of SOT may appoint a postdoctoral scholar to serve as a point of communication between the PDA Executive Board and the members of the group. The representative encourages membership in SOT and the component group as well as activities to enhance involvement of postdocs in SOT.
