Expert
Students and Postdoctoral Fellows
The LWAE program provides a special opportunity at the SOT Annual Meeting for small groups of students and postdoctoral scholars to meet with Associate or Full SOT member Experts for informal discussion. This program provides participants with a great opportunity to network and gain insights from seasoned toxicologists. Groups of about three students will be matched with suitable Expert volunteers from industry, academia, or government using the information provided during registration for the event.
LWAE is not limited to a lunchtime meeting. The Expert will determine the restaurant and whether the group will meet for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or for a social hour! Students and postdocs will be matched with Experts during February. Then Experts receive the participant e-mail addresses and recommended questions so that they may contact the participants prior to the Annual Meeting. All groups meet at the Lunch with an Expert Information Board that is located in the South Foyer near the Registration area, and then go together to the restaurant. Each participant is responsible for his or her meal costs.
Contact SS-GC Chairperson Shep Martin for more information using the SOT Membership Directory (member-restricted). Nonmember students may send their questions via SOT Headquarters.
"Experts"
The Specialty Section Graduate Committee invites Associate and Full members of SOT to meet with a small group of students and postdoctoral fellows (approximately 3) for an informal discussion over lunch or other meal during a convenient time at the Annual Meeting. Complete the registration form at the link below, indicating your areas of interest. You will be matched to students with similar interests. Before the Annual Meeting, the SS-GC will send you the e-mail addresses for members of your group so that you can communicate with your group and convey the date, time, and place you have chosen. Groups meet at the LWAE Information board to proceed to the restaurant. Please inform the SS-GC of the meeting time so that we can display the information on our LWAE poster and calendar at the Annual Meeting.
Your participation will strengthen the networks within SOT and provide a valuable opportunity for discussion of scientific topics and career experiences. Experts are encouraged to register by January 8, 2010.
