Award Title Student Achievement Award 
Award Description Description: The MASOT Student Achievement Award is a $1000 award that was developed to recognize significant achievements of MASOT doctoral student members. Criteria that will be considered for this award include academic excellence, outstanding scientific achievement in the field of toxicology, and leadership and service to SOT, MASOT and the applicant’s academic institution.

Criteria:
•Current MASOT member
•Enrolled in an accepted Toxicology or Pharmacology Doctoral Program
•Intention of submitting a 1st author abstract for SOT 2019
•Intention of attending the MASOT Fall Meeting
•Overall 3.5 GPA (from a minimum of 2 semesters/1 year in a doctoral program)
•The award is based on review of a full, current CV, which should include abstracts, presentations, publications, awards, and evidence of leadership at MASOT, SOT or home institution
•One letter of recommendation is required (two letters are strongly suggested)
•Winners of the Student Achievement Award are ineligible to apply again in subsequent years

Submit CV, transcript and letter(s) of recommendation via email to Gloria Post (Gloria.Post@dep.nj.gov) by Oct 3rd. The subject line of the email should read “MASOT Student Achievement Award.” The award will be presented at the MASOT Fall Meeting. Attendance at the meeting is expected.

Award Title Student Poster Awards 
Award Description The Mid-Atlantic Society of Toxicology (MASOT) is seeking graduate / undergraduate students to present their laboratory work (in poster form) at the annual MASOT fall meeting. Not only is this a great opportunity for students to present their research, but there are cash awards for the best poster presentations. Being a MASOT member pays...literally!

The requirements/criteria for the award are:
• Send an extended abstract consisting of no more than 500 words summarizing the work you will present on your poster.
Students must be MASOT members to be eligible (use the online application to apply).

Please adhere to these guidelines, as any deviation may result in disqualification of the entry.

Submit abstracts via email to John Kozlosky(john.kozlosky@bms.com) by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10th with the subject line “MASOT Student Poster Award.” If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to contact him at 732-227-6093. Award Title Conney W. Berger Jr., PhD, DABT, Memorial Graduate Student Travel Award 
Award Description As many of you are probably aware, Dr. Conney Berger Jr., PhD, DABT passed away on October 27, 2017 after his battle with pancreatic cancer. Conney was very involved with both SOT and MASOT over the years, serving as MASOT President in 2014-2015. He brought his vast knowledge of toxicology to the MASOT membership with his experience from Bristol-Myers Squibb, Glaxo-Smith Kline, Hoffman-LaRoche and Toxicology Regulatory Services. Conney was a mentor to innumerable MASOT members and served as an inspiration with his dedication to the field of toxicology and service to MASOT and SOT.
As one of the many people who considered Conney to be a MASOT mentor and friend, I am proud to announce the Conney W. Berger Jr., PhD, DABT Graduate Student Memorial Award in memory of a great man and dedicated scientist. Many thanks to Conney’s wife, Aimee Berger, and his sons Conney Will Berger III and Sebastian Berger, for approving this award and their help in defining the criteria.
Award Criteria: • Doctoral student in an approved program in Toxicology/Pharmacology • Submitted an abstract for 2019 SOT (Baltimore, MD) • SOT and MASOT member • GPA of 3.0 or greater • Must be in attendance at the Fall 2018 MASOT meeting (Edison, NJ)
Graduate students present at the Fall 2018 MASOT meeting in Edison, NJ, will be eligible to enter their name in a drawing for this $500 award with the exclusion of the recipient of the Student Achievement Award. The recipient of this award will be chosen at the conclusion of the meeting MASOT Fall meeting.
