OVSOT Awards

New SOT Undergraduate Travel Award

The Regional Chapter Communication and Collaboration Group (RC4) is pleased to announce its Undergraduate Travel Award. The purpose of the award is to provide an undergraduate student with a needs-based travel grant that enables students to attend the SOT Annual Meeting and the opportunity to present a poster on a toxicology-related project.

If interested, please send the following materials by September 5, 2018 to Dr. Eddie Sloter, Charles River Laboratories, Eddie.sloter@crl.com.

  • 1. Scientific abstract (about 250-300 words; may be the same abstract submitted for OVSOT)
  • 2. A statement of purpose (explain why travel funds are needed and how this will benefit your career goals)
  • 3. A letter of support from your mentor (must be OVSOT member)
  • Winners (3 for the whole country) will be announced on October 1, 2018 and participate in the 2019 SOT Undergraduate Program, at the SOT Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD, in March 2019. Winners will submit an abstract for the Annual Meeting by October 19th. To be eligible, the applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at the time of travel to the SOT Annual Meeting.     Award Winners

    Award Title Best PhD Student Poster Presentation Award 
    Award Description Award will be presented to the PhD student judged to give the best poster presentation at the annual chapter meeting. Applicants must be fully enrolled in a graduate program, a student member of OVSOT and plan to present the work at the next SOT Annual Meeting. In addition, SOT membership must be active or pending.

    Award Title Givaudan Best PhD Student Platform Presentation Award 
    Award Description Award will be presented to the PhD student judged to give the best platform presentation at the annual chapter meeting. In addition to a monetary gift, the award also carries an invitation to serve as the student representative on the OVSOT executive council including travel funds to represent OVSOT at the next SOT Annual Meeting. Applicants must be fully enrolled in a graduate program, a student member of OVSOT and plan to present the work at the next SOT Annual Meeting. In addition, SOT membership must be active or pending.

    Award Title Best Postdoctoral Platform Presentation Award 
    Award Description Award will be presented to the Post-doctoral researcher judged to give the best platform presentation at the annual chapter meeting. In addition to a monetary gift, the award also carries an invitation to serve as the Postdoctoral representative on the OVSOT executive council including travel funds to represent OVSOT at the next SOT Annual Meeting. Applicants must be a postdoctoral member of OVSOT and plan to present the work at the SOT Annual Meeting. SOT membership must be active or pending.

    Award Title Masters Student Presentation Award 
    Award Description Award will be presented to the student working toward a Masters degree judged to give the best poster presentation at the annual chapter meeting. Awardee must be a student member of OVSOT, and SOT membership must be active or pending.
