Teresa de Jesus Palacios Hernandez, BS, MS, PhD

Dr. Palacios is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health, U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Her previous professional experiences were as postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University (JHU, 2014–2016), and in the Department of Food and Chemical Engineering at Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP, 2014), Mexico. She obtained her Bachelor in Agronomic Biology from Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala in 2005, a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from UDLAP in 2007 and her Doctoral Degree in Chemical Sciences (major in Inorganic Chemistry) from the Benemerita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), Mexico, in 2012. She has had several research internships at the Centre for Cell Engineering, University of Glasgow, UK (2009), at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, US (2011), and at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, MD, US (2012). Dr. Palacios has focused her research on Nanotoxicology, studying the synthesis, characterization and biological in vitro activity of inorganic and polymeric nanomaterials containing active ingredients employed in medicine. She has presented talks, posters and platform sessions in 26 conferences in Mexico and the United States, and she has published five papers on peer-reviewed journals and ten publications in extenso. She has been recognized in Mexico as part of National System of Researchers (SNI) since September 2013. Besides, Dr. Palacios has been SOT and HOT member since 2010, where she has served as Postdoctoral Representative during period 2014–2016, as Postdoctoral Representative in the SOT Membership Committee (2015-2017), and she was recognized by HOT as outstanding officer during period 2014–2015. She was elected as Secretary in HOT during period 2016–2018.
