Robert P. Casillas, PhD, Fellow ATS

Dr. Robert P. Casillas has 30 years of biochemical toxicology research expertise, with 20 of those years in the management of chemical and biological (CB) containment operations and technical execution of programs in CB medical defense. His specialization includes the development of in vivo/in vitro models to assess the safety and efficacy of vaccines, antidotes, and skin protectants against CB Threat Agents. At MRIGlobal, he is VP, Strategic Global Health Security and is responsible for developing strategic plans, opportunities, and programs for growing and further strengthening MRIGlobal’s markets with government, industry, and academia. Prior to MRIGlobal, he held several positions of progressive responsibility at Battelle, including VP, CBRNE Business Integration; VP, Biomedical S&T; and Associate Director, Biomedical Research Center. Robert also serves as a Colonel in the US Army Reserve as a Biochemist. Prior to Battelle, he held various positions with DoD in the area of medical defense. Robert serves on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Biotechnology Association and the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Dept. of Pharm/Tox, Rutgers University. He is a member of the Dermal & Ocular Toxicology and Hispanic Organization of Toxicologists Specialty Sections. Robert holds a PhD in Microbial Biochemistry from Georgia State University, and did his Postdoc in the Dept. of Biochemistry, Center in Molecular Toxicology, at Vanderbilt University SOM. He has authored/co-authored 40 publications, 5 book chapters, and 120 abstracts.
