II. Activities
2007–2008 Meetings:
The Fall 2007 Symposium/Annual Meeting was held on November 6, 2007, at Lister Hill Auditorium in Bethesda, Maryland. The title of the symposium was “Biomarkers in Drug Development.” Approximately 60 people from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. were in attendance. A short business meeting took place at Noon during the lunch break. No minutes were taken.
The NCAC Annual Student Day Symposium was held on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. The title of the symposium was "Life After Graduation." Approximately 50 students were in attendance.
The Spring 2008 Symposium/Annual Meeting was held on May 20, 2008 at Lister Hill Auditorium on the NIH Campus. The title of the symposium was “Animal vs. Human Models of Toxicity Testing.” Approximately 100 people from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. were in attendance.
The NCAC cosponsored the meeting “Chemical Toxicology in Action” at the George Washington University on April 12, 2008. The primary sponsor of the meeting was the American Chemical Society.
The NCAC sponsored the Second Annual Girl Scout Nation’s Capitol day on January 26th, 2008.
The event introduced scientific concepts to girls in grades 1–12.
Travel Awards to the National SOT meeting in Seattle, Washington.
NCAC had a competition for travel awards for graduate and postdoctoral students to attend the SOT National Meeting.

K–12 Activities
NCAC-SOT Board members judged posters and presented cash awards for excellence in environmental/toxicological sciences at three local public school county science fairs.

One award of $50:
- Ayeeshik Kole, “Inflammation and carcinogenesis in human liver cells”
Two awards of $25 each:
- Eliza Fletcher, “Which Soil Absorbs the Most Pollutants”
- Megan Murduck, “Identification of Nanoparticles from the World Trade Center Destruction”
SOT RC Funding Received and Used to Support:
$2,000 used to support the 2nd Annual Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital day.
