The
Southeastern Chapter of the Society of Toxicology is a regional
member of the Society of Toxicology. The purpose
of SESOT is to promote communication between toxicologists in the
Southeast region as well as to serve as a resource for lay, students,
and professionals interested in the field and the subject. We
seek to serve as the focal point for toxicological interests in
the region, encourage interactions among toxicologists in government,
industry, and academia, and sponsor scientific and educational
programs in toxicology related subjects. Member states include
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This
page contains links to current officers and the national Society
of Toxicology, membership information, and information as to events
scheduled within the chapter.
Student Abstract Awards
Student and Postdoctoral Abstracts Awards available for the Southeastern Society of Toxicology Meeting on October 11 and 12.
The Southeastern Society of Toxicology meeting on October 11 and 12 at the Center for Continuing Education Center at UGA is accepting abstract for Student and Postdoctoral Awards. We will be giving away awards for best oral and poster presentations. The top student and postdoctoral abstracts will be chosen for oral presentation.
To be considered please e-mail your abstract to Dr. Brian S. Cummings by September 30.
Abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words and must indicate if you are a student or postdoctoral fellow.
To register for the meeting, please go to the Events webpage. The deadline for registration is September 30.

SESOT and UGA Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program Dinner

Toxicologist Needed
Location: San Ramon, California
(The position is currently located in Richmond, California and is scheduled to move to San Ramon, California around December 2010.)
The Toxicologist sought for this position will join an existing team of Health, Environment, & Safety professionals supporting Chevron operating companies worldwide. Toxicologists in the group characterize human health and environmental hazards, exposures, and human health and environmental risks associated with Chevron products and materials. This position will serve as an expert consultant, providing professional consulting services in the area of toxicology to Oronite, a Chevron operating company that manufactures & distributes oil/fuel/gasoline additives on a worldwide basis. This position will also support product stewardship and regulatory compliance activities. In order to effectively meet business partner needs in these areas, the toxicologist works in close partnership with the operating companies. Toxicology Residencies and Fellowships (Pharmacy)
Location: Florida
The Florida/USVI Poison Information Center—Jacksonville at Shands Jacksonville/University of Florida Health Science Center is offering a 2 year residency/fellowship for Pharm.D. graduates in the area of Clinical Toxicology/Emergency Medicine. This program will serve to educate and provide practical experiential training for the resident in aspects of those subspecialties (emergency medicine, adult and pediatric critical care, clinical toxicology, and poison information) necessary for the development of expertise in diagnostic procedures, triage, initial and subsequent therapeutic management, and monitoring of the acutely ill/toxic patient.
