The Southern California Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology is
DUES FREE! There are two categories of membership: Full and Student. Full
members are qualified persons who have a continuing professional interest
in toxicology. Student members are persons with an interest in toxicology
enrolled in a degree program at any educational institution. To Join: Complete

Graduate students are invited to submit an abstract to participate in a Poster Session for the 2007 SCCSOT Annual Meeting entitled, "Innovative Technologies in Graduate students are invited to submit an abstract to participate in a Poster Session for the 2007
SCCSOT Annual Meeting entitled, "Contribution of Physiological Differences to Different
Toxicity Outcomes Across Species," scheduled for October 26th, 2007 at Amgen Inc. in
Thousand Oaks, CA. Abstracts on any toxicology-related subject will be welcomed (e.g. environmental toxicology, drug development, risk assessment, product safety assessment,pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, reproductive toxicology, etc.). Students will display and
attend their posters during an afternoon poster session. First ($500), second ($250), and third
($100) prizes will be awarded to outstanding posters. In order to be eligible for a prize, students
must (1) submit an abstract and (2) participate in the poster viewing and discussion session.
Students are requested to submit an abstract in the format outlined below no later than
Monday, October 22nd, 2007 to Tina Leakakos (SCCSOT Treasurer) at
tleakakos@balboabio.com.
Abstract Format
Please submit an abstract of 300 words or less summarizing experimental studies including a statement of the objective or rationale of the study, an abbreviated description of the
experimental procedure, the results, and conclusion(s). Abstracts should not include tables,
figures, or chemical structures. Please adhere to the following formatting instructions for the
abstract:
- Use Microsoft Word to format abstract.
- All text should by typed single spaced in 12-point font using a standard Windows font (e.g. Times New Roman).
- Title of abstract should follow the format in the following example:
OVARIAN TOXICITY OF 4-VINYLCYCLOHEXENE AND RELATED OLEFINS IN B6C3F1 MICE. J K Doerr-
Stevens, S B Hooser, B J Smith, and I G Sipes. University of Arizona, Department of Pharmacology and
Toxicology, Tucson, AZ. 4-Vinylcyclohexene (VCH), an ovarian toxicant in mice, is known to irreversibly deplete ovarian follicles as a result
All abstracts that meet all of the requirements listed above will be published in a meeting
program booklet. Abstract Deadlliine and Submiissiion All abstracts and abstract information sheets must be submitted by Monday, October 22nd, 2007. Please submit your abstract and information sheet electronically to
tleakakos@balboabio.com.
Poster Format
Posters will be displayed during the poster session and are to be set-up during the afternoon break period. Posters will be mounted on presentation boards and should not exceed 4 feet by 6 feet. Additional specifics regarding poster set-up will be provided at the registration table on the day of the meeting. |
