Meeting Information
The MISOT Council has been busy planning a great Fall 2011 meeting! This one-day meeting will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Hanna Community Center in East Lansing, Michigan. The theme of this year’s fall meeting is “Predictive Toxicology for a Sustainable Future” and our speakers will be:
- Dr. Jim McKim (CeeTox), who will speak on “Toxicology in the 21st Century: Implementation of New In Vitro Toxicity Strategies on a Global Scale.”
- Dr. Clif McLellan (NSF), who will present an “Overview of Green Chemistry Initiatives: Their Challenges and Opportunities.”
- Dr. Pamela Spencer (The Dow Chemical Company), who will discuss “Predictive Toxicology’s Emerging Role in Sustainable Chemistry/Product Development: A Chemical Company’s Perspective and Case Studie.s”
- Dr. Martin Stephens (Johns Hopkins University), who will speak on “Accelerating Implementation of 21st Century Toxicology.”
In addition to these highly anticipated platform presentations, a highlight of the fall meeting is of course our poster session and student/postdoctoral poster competition. All are welcome to bring posters, which may be on any topic. The poster session has proved to be a great way to meet people and initiate collaborations, so please consider participating. Also, to better support our postdoctoral members, the meeting registration fee has been reduced from $50 to $25 for this, and future meetings.
If you will be presenting a poster, please provide an abstract of no more than 350 words, including title of poster, authors, and affiliations. Send your abstract as an email attachment to Robert Ellis-Hutchings by Friday, October 28 so that we will be sure to have enough easels set up for everyone. For those entering the competition, please include in the body of the message whether you are a student or postdoctoral fellow/research associate.
You can register for the meeting by visiting the MISOT Web site, where you will have the option of on-line registration (credit card required) or sending a check (payable to SOT) with a completed registration form to:Robert Ellis-Hutchings, Ph.D.
