Laboratory Animal Associate—North Carolina

Accentuate Staffing is looking for a mid level Laboratory Animal Associate to assist with a preclinical toxicology study with a local biomedical research organization. This is a 1 year contract position, with a strong possibility of going permanent for the right person. Contract employee will be responsible for adhering to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as well as adhering strictly to GLP guidelines. Employee will need to participate on preclinical toxicology studies in multiple capacities. This position requires the ability to handle and work with laboratory rodents (mice and rats). This is a laboratory support position which will be working closely with veterinarian, management, other research staff, and other laboratory technicians by performing technical aspect of toxicology study work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitoring and care of laboratory rodents
  • Performing all activities under applicable guidelines and regulations (SOPs, GLPs, etc)
  • Performing dosing techniques such as but not limited to oral gavage, iv, sc, im, dermal and dosed feed/water.
  • Sample collection
  • Performing necropsy techniques
  • Ensuring high data quality and integrity 4–6
  • Assisting in cage wash activities as necessary
  • Other applicable duties as assigned by supervisor/management

Job Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in associated scientific field is preferred
  • This position requires the ability to handle/lift up to 50lbs by either pushing racks or other heavy equipment. It also requires lifting heavy bags/containers of rodent food daily.
  • Employee must be able/willing to work with rodents (specifically rats and mice).
  • Employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as PAPR or half face mask cartridge respirator for 6–8 hours a day.
  • Will require proper Company training for GLP and company SOPs. Prior experience on preclinical toxicology studies is preferred for this position. Ability to dose via various routes as described in job description is preferred.
  • Past experience with reproductive toxicology studies is preferred.
  • This position will require direct handling of rodents and the ability to collect data in an automated data collection system as well as hand recorded data.

Salary Range: $14–16.50/hr. (DOE)
