“Toxicological Research—Inspiring the Next Generation of Toxicologists”
The PinchBack Engineering Building
Southern University A&M College, Baton Rouge, LA
In 1982, The South Central Chapter (SCC) of SOT was founded as a Regional Chapter within the Society of Toxicology. The SCC-SOT serves academic, government, and industrial toxicologists throughout the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and western Tennessee. The SCC-SOT provides a forum for toxicologists in the five-state region to present their research and discuss issues of toxicological concern. The 2013 Annual Fall Meeting will be held Thursday, October 10 and Friday October 11, 2013, in the PinchBack Engineering Building on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The focus of this year’s SCC-SOT meeting is “Toxicological Research—Inspiring the Next Generation of Toxicologists.” There are four focal activities associated with the meeting: (1) the Keynote address, which will be given by distinguished toxicologist, Dr. Stephen Safe of Texas A&M Health Science Center, followed by our scientific sessions; (2) the “K–12 Toxicologist Luncheon;” (3) the undergraduate/graduate poster section, and (4) a networking reception. These activities will provide students, academic faculty, government employees, colleagues, and collaborators from different institutions in the region an opportunity to connect and discuss shared interests in the field.
