Award Title Association of Scientists of Indian Origin SIG  Dr. Harihara Mehendale Graduate Student Best Abstract Award 
Award Description

This award is made possible by the Dr. Harihara Mehendale ASIO-SIG student award endowment fund established with SOT. Multiple awards will be given each year to students of Indian origin, for their presentations made at the SOT Annual Meeting, and whose work exemplifies the mission of ASIO-SIG. Each student award includes a plaque and monetary award.

The number of awards presented each year and the award winners will be determined by ASIO awards committee. To apply for this award, please submit your complete application by e-mailing to Sudheer Beedanagari on or before Jan 30th, 2012.

Award Eligibility Criteria:

  • Only students of Indian origin are eligible to apply for this award.
  • Must be a graduate student in good standing from a reputed university at the time of applying for this award.
  • There are no membership requirements. However, we strongly encourage applicants to apply for both ASIO-SIG and SOT memberships, if they are not members currently.
  • Must have an accepted abstract at the SOT Annual Meeting.
  • Must NOT have received an ASIO-SIG sponsored award more than twice in the last three years.

Submission Requirements:

  • Accepted SOT abstract submitted for poster or platform presentation to SOT, including SOT abstract number (Microsoft Word File).
  • A cover letter from the applicant outlining the significance of their research work to Toxicology field and how this award will help them to further their career goals.

Award Title Association of Scientists of Indian Origin SIG  Dr. Dharm Singh Postdoctoral Fellow Best Abstract Award 
Award Description

This award is made possible by the Dr. Dharm Singh ASIO-SIG Postdoctoral Fellow endowment fund established with SOT. Multiple awards will be given each year to postdoctoral fellows of Indian origin, for their presentations made at the SOT Annual Meeting, and whose work exemplifies the mission of ASIO-SIG. Each student award includes a plaque and monetary award.

The number of awards presented each year and the award winner(s) will be determined by ASIO awards committee. To apply for this award, please submit your complete application by e-mailing to Sudheer Beedanagari on or before Jan 30th, 2012.

Award Description

This award is made possible by the Dr. Laxman Desai ASIO-SIG student award endowment fund established with SOT. Multiple awards will be given each year to students of Indian origin, for their presentations made at the SOT Annual Meeting, and whose work exemplifies the mission of ASIO-SIG.

Each student award includes a plaque and monetary award. The number of awards presented each year and the award winners will be determined by ASIO awards committee. To apply for this award, please submit your complete application by emailing Sudheer Beedanagari on or before Jan 30th, 2012.

Award Title Association of Scientists of Indian Origin SIG  International Travel Award 
Award Description

ASIO sponsors an international travel award each year to assist either a graduate student or a postdoctoral fellow of Indian origin from outside USA to attend the SOT Annual Meeting. The amount of funding typically covers only partial travel and visiting expenses. This award will be given each year to either a graduate student or a postdoctoral fellow for their presentations made at the SOT Annual Meeting, and whose work exemplifies the mission of ASIO-SIG. Each award includes a plaque and monetary award.

The award winner will be determined by the ASIO awards committee. To apply for this award, please submit your complete application by e-mailing to Sudheer Beedanagari on or before Jan 30th, 2012.

Student Award Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be either a graduate student or a postdoctoral fellow of Indian origin in an university outside USA at the time of applying for this award.
  • There are no membership requirements. However, we strongly encourage applicants to apply for both ASIO-SIG and SOT memberships, if they are not members currently.
  • Must have an accepted abstract at the SOT Annual Meeting.
  • Must NOT have received an ASIO-SIG sponsored award the immediate past year.

Submission Requirements:

  • Accepted SOT abstract submitted for poster or platform presentation to SOT, including SOT abstract number (Microsoft Word File).
  • A letter of support from applicant’s academic advisor indicating the role of applicant in conducting the research.
  • Cover letter from the applicant outlining the significance of their work to Toxicology field and how this award will help them to further their career goals.
  • Must submit a brief projected expenses summary in attending the SOT annual meeting that highlights other funding resources.

Award Title Association of Scientists of Indian Origin SIG  Young Investigator Award 
Award Description

ASIO is pleased to announce a new Young Investigator award starting from 2012 SOT Annual Meeting. This award will be given each year to a toxicologist of Indian origin whose work exemplifies the mission of ASIO SIG. The award includes a plaque and a recognition certificate. To apply for this award, please submit your complete application by e-mailing to Sudheer Beedanagari on or before Jan 30th, 2012.

Award Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of research experience from the date the nominee received their doctoral degree.
  • The nominee should be actively involved in toxicology research at the time of applying for this award.
  • Scientist affiliated with Academia/Industry/Government or any other organization that’s involved in Toxicology research is eligible to apply.
  • There are no membership requirements. However, we strongly encourage applicants to apply for both ASIO-SIG and SOT memberships, if they are not members currently.

Submission Requirements:

  • Nominations by peers or self-nominations are both accepted.
  • Comprehensive CV and a recommendation letter from an ASIO member highlighting nominee’s achievements to date should be submitted along with nomination letter.

Award Description

ASIO is pleased to announce a new Senior Toxicologist award starting from 2012 SOT Annual Meeting. This award will be given each year to a toxicologist of Indian origin whose work exemplifies the mission of ASIO SIG. The award includes a plaque and a recognition certificate. To apply for this award, please submit your complete application by e-mailing to Sudheer Beedanagari on or before Jan 30th, 2012.

Award Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of research experience from the date the nominee received their doctoral degree.
  • The nominee should be actively involved or contributed significantly to Toxicology research.
  • Any scientist affiliated with Academia/Industry/Government or any other organization that’s involved in Toxicology research is eligible to apply.
  • There are no membership requirements. However, we strongly encourage applicants to apply for both ASIO-SIG and SOT memberships, if they are not members currently.

Submission Requirements:

  • Nominations by peers or self-nominations are both accepted.
  • Comprehensive CV and a recommendation letter from an ASIO member highlighting nominee’s achievements to date should be submitted along with nomination letter.
