Additional Meeting Information: Acquired long QT syndrome remains a clear health concern impacting many non-cardiovascular and cardiovascular therapies. It is probably the one single topic that brought safety pharmacology more in to focus than any other. It has its own unique regulatory guidances in ICH S7B and ICH E14. Some may believe that it is also a topic that has run its course or at least may be regarded as manageable. However, this comes at a price. That price contributes to the escalating costs of drug discovery and development. Inevitably, a question arises if it is cost-effective.

DDI-2012 is a yearly event providing a comprehensive update on the status of the science of drug-drug interactions and its relevance to drug development. Additional Meeting Information: There has been rapid growth in the contract research organization (CRO) industry over the last 10 years with much of that growth occurring in India and other Asian regions. There is an increasing demand for trained professional and technical staffs in laboratories to conduct toxicology and safety studies necessary to meet the regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals, commodity chemicals, etc. This workshop will provide attendees with the details of conducting, supervising, and monitoring toxicology studies in an ever-increasingly stringent regulatory environment. The content of this workshop is provided in the tentative outline but the course will include topics on Good Laboratory Practice regulations, study protocol development, species selection, in-life study evaluations, pathology and clinical pathology evaluations, etc.
