SOT and Eleven National and International Organizations Sponsor Major Conference on Environmental Stressors and the Origins of Disease

SOT and eleven other international and national organizations, and government agencies are sponsoring a four-day conference December 7–10 on the adverse affects of environmental hazards on fetal and early postnatal development at the Loews Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.

The conference, "PPTOXII: Role of Environmental Stressors in the Development of Origins of Disease," is designed to examine the animal and human data supporting the hypothesis that environmental exposures lead to altered programming, which leads to increase susceptibility to disease/dysfunction later in life.

Sponsors for the conference include: the World Health Organization, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, European Environment Agency, National Center for Toxicological Research, Superfund Basic Research Program, National Cancer Institute and the National Institute for Environmental Studies.

SOT is dedicated to creating a safer and healthier world by advancing the science of toxicology.
