Molecular and Systems Biology SS Paper of the Year Award

Deadline: January 2

The Molecular and Systems Biology Specialty Section (MSBSS) is pleased to request submissions for the MSBSS Paper of the Year Award. This award highlights one outstanding paper that integrates molecular biology and/or systems biology to toxicology research and/or risk assessment. Applicants must be members of SOT (accepted or pending) and members of MSBSS by the time the award is presented.

The paper must be a primary manuscript published (electronic or print) in a peer-reviewed journal during the 12-month period prior to the award application deadline. The award applicant should be the paper’s first author and must be a member of MSBSS by the time the award is given. Papers can be self-nominated or nominated by other MSBSS members.

Applicants: Submit a single PDF document that includes a one-page narrative describing the impact of the paper on the field and the role that the first author played in conducting the research, which should be followed by a PDF version of the paper. The narrative should be formatted in 11-point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins and should not include a reference section. Applications will be judged on their relevance and/or novelty to molecular/systems toxicology, logic and flow, hypothesis, approach, experimental methods or model, results, discussion, and overall manuscript quality.

The first author of the selected paper will receive a $1000 award and both the first and senior authors will receive an engraved plaque at the MSBSS reception during the Annual Meeting. The first author will also be invited to showcase their research in a presentation sponsored by MSBSS later in the year.

Submissions should be made by email to Leah Wehmas by the Application Deadline: January 2, 2023 at 11:59PM.
