Mechanisms SS Ronald G. Thurman Student Travel Award

The Mechanisms Specialty Section is pleased to offer the Ronald G. Thurman Student Travel Award to an outstanding graduate student. The requirements for the award are:
1. The applicant must be a graduate student and a member of the SOT or have applied for membership with a pending outcome. The applicant does not have to be a member of the Mechanisms Specialty Section.
2. The applicant must be the presenting author on an abstract submitted to the SOT Annual Meeting for the year in which application for the award is made.
3. Judging will be based on the following criteria: Does this abstract contain a clear hypothesis? Does this work focus on basic mechanisms of injury or repair or metabolism in liver? Is this work novel? Does this study define a clear mechanism of injury or repair? Was the significance of the findings articulated sufficiently well?

1. A cover letter (one page maximum) that includes a statement of the applicant’s research interests and how his/her current research advances the field of mechanistic toxicology in the liver
2. A copy of the abstract
Recipients will be announced at the Mechanisms Specialty Section business meeting at the SOT Annual Meeting and will receive a plaque and cash award.
