Molecular and Systems Biology SS Molecular and Systems Biology SS Graduate Student Research Award

The Molecular and Systems Biology Specialty Section (MSBSS) is pleased to request submissions for the MSBSS Graduate Student Research Award. Applicants must be full-time graduate students as of December 1st, 2017, graduate student members (accepted or pending) of SOT, and be a member of MSBSS by the time the award is presented.
Applications should include:
1.) A PDF document submitted by the applicant that includes a copy of the abstract that they submitted for the upcoming SOT Annual Meeting and a two-page narrative describing the hypothesis, background, and significance of the research, as well as the role that the applicant played in conducting the research. The narrative should be formatted in 11-point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins and a reference section is not required.
2.) A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s advisor, which should be submitted directly by the advisor.
Three awards will be made: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Awardees will receive a check (1st place: $500, 2nd place: $300, and 3rd place: $100) and engraved plaque during the MSBSS reception at the SOT Annual Meeting. All three awardees will be invited to give a talk in a webinar hosted by MSBSS later in the year.
Applications will be judged on their relevance and/or novelty to molecular/systems toxicology, logic and flow, hypothesis, approach, experimental methods or model, results, discussion and/or conclusions, and the advisor letter.
