Upcoming Meetings—36th Annual Meeting of the A-E SOT

We Are What We Breathe: Health Effects of Complex Air Pollutants

The theme for the 2023 Allegheny-Erie Society of Toxicology meeting will focus on the many ways in which mixed air pollutants cause serious health effects. Keynote speakers will headline three scientific sessions including:

	Mixed Combustion Emissions Yongho Kim, PhD, US Environmental Protection Agency
	Novel Discoveries in Vaping Research and Health Impacts Alex Carll, PhD, University of Louisville
	President’s Symposium Meghan Rebuli, PhD, University of North Carolina

Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and young investigators will have the opportunity to meet with our experts and present their research in each session.

Meeting highlights will include poster sessions on all aspects of toxicology, undergraduate and graduate student “lunch with an expert” meetings, sponsors and exhibitors will be available to discuss state-of-the-art services and equipment.

Awards for best oral and poster presentation (undergraduate, graduate student and postdoctoral scholar for each), best methodology, and best overall abstract will be presented.

Abstracts

Abstract Deadline is April 21, 2023 and abstracts should be submitted in Word format to AESOTabstracts@hsc.wvu.edu.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

1. Abstract submission deadline: April 21, 2023
2. Abstract submission guidelines (see template):
   1. No more than one page in length with a character limit of 2,300. This includes title, body, authors, institutions, and spaces.
   2. Single spaced, 11 point Arial font
   3. Title should be UPPERCASE and bold
   4. Authors’ Names: First and middle initial, if desired, (no punctuation) then last name (Ex: PC Zeidler-Erdely, P Stapleton)
3. Abstract submission:
   1. Submit abstracts to: AESOTabstracts@hsc.wvu.edu
   2. Indicate in your email your status as a Graduate Student, Postdoctoral Fellow, or Young Investigator (typically <10 years after earning Doctoral degree). Also, indicate your presentation preference: Poster, Oral, or either. Notification of oral presentation will be given by April 27, 2023.

The body of your abstract begins here. It should be a clear summary of your presentation that states the problem, the methods used, and the major results and conclusions. No more than one page in length with a character limit of 2,300. This includes title, body, authors, institutions, and spaces. Single-spaced, 11 point Arial font.

The abstracts are to be submitted by April 21, 2023. The content of the abstracts will be the basis for acceptance of either an oral or poster presentation at the A-E SOT meeting. The members of the Program Committee will review the abstracts and authors will be informed about acceptance for an oral presentation at the conference by April 27, 2023.

A block of rooms have been reserved under the “Allegheny Erie Society of Toxicology” at a local hotel, near the meeting venue. DIRECTIONS TO THE ERICKSON ALUMNI CENTER

From I-79 North or South

1. Take I-79 Exit 155 at Star City. At bottom of exit ramp, bear right if traveling north, left if traveling south.
2. Bear to the right at the traffic light at Sheetz on Route 7
3. Make a left onto Patteson Drive at the traffic light at the Coliseum and merge into the right lane
4. At third traffic light, turn right onto University Avenue
5. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Alumni Drive (formerly Medical Center Drive). Parking is available in the lot on the right.

From I-68 East

1. Take I-68 East to Exit 7 (Airport/Pierpont Road) and turn right (Merge into middle lane)
2. Go straight through first traffic light
3. At the second traffic light, turn left onto 119 South
4. Go through traffic light (the airport will be on your left)
5. At the next traffic light, turn right onto 705
6. Go through five traffic lights
7. At the fifth light, turn left onto Van Voorhis Road
8. Go through one traffic light and get in the left-hand lane. Turn left at the next traffic light onto University Avenue
9. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Alumni Drive (formerly Medical Center Drive). Parking is available in the lot on the right.
