Lake Ontario Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology

Welcome to the Lake Ontario Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology!

President’s Message

Hello to all the Lake Ontario Regional Chapter (LORC) Members!

For 33 years, the LORC’s mission has been to provide a forum for the interaction and professional networking of toxicologists in the bi-national geographical region of Southern Ontario and Western New York.

Toxicologists from all disciplines and experience levels contribute to the betterment of our society by researching, investigating, and interpreting data relevant to stakeholders and supporting informed decision-making. With continued efforts in collaboration and networking, as well as supporting students in the field of toxicology, we can all contribute to the continued growth and strength of this discipline.

Our key regional chapter goals for 2019–2020 will be: 1) LORC membership recruitment by raising awareness of our regional chapter among new and established toxicologists in our region, 2) continued outreach to undergraduate and graduate students in the field of toxicology at the universities throughout our region to promote their connection to the broader community of toxicologists, and 3) coordinate opportunities for LORC members to learn and connect digitally or in-person through relevant forums, such as webinars, informal scientific talks/pub nights, and joint receptions with other toxicology societies and regional chapters.

As the incoming president, I’m excited to work with the dedicated and passionate executive team and members to further the chapter vision and goals.

We are only as strong and capable as our volunteers and we can always use more help! If you have any ideas for our chapter or are interested in helping out in any way, please reach out to me or any of the members of the LORC executive team.

Tom Jonaitis
LORC President
