Lake Ontario Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology

Welcome to the Lake Ontario Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology!

President’s Message

Dear Lake Ontario Regional Chapter Members,

Mark Korchinski

Welcome to the Lake Ontario Regional Chapter (LORC) of the Society of Toxicology.

Although we are one of the smaller regional chapters within SOT, our size is one of our greatest strengths. LORC brings together a diverse and engaged community of students, trainees, academics, government scientists, consultants, and industry professionals from across Ontario and Upstate New York. Our chapter provides a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues across sectors and career stages, fostering collaborations and professional relationships that might not otherwise occur.

As President, my goal is to continue building a welcoming and supportive community for toxicologists at all stages of their careers. Whether through scientific presentations, networking events, student engagement activities, or professional development opportunities, I hope to create meaningful ways for members to connect, learn from one another, and stay engaged with the broader toxicology community.

Toxicology continues to evolve rapidly, with advances in exposure science, computational methods, new approach methodologies, and data science reshaping how we understand and assess chemical risks. Regional chapters play an important role in providing local opportunities to discuss these emerging areas, share experiences, and support the next generation of toxicologists.

I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities LORC offers and to become involved in chapter activities. Your participation, ideas, and enthusiasm are what make our chapter successful. I look forward to working with you over the coming year and continuing to strengthen our vibrant toxicology community.

Sincerely,
Kristin Eccles, PhD
President, Lake Ontario Regional Chapter
