CALL for ABSTRACTS

The deadline for abstract submission is Monday, November 30, 2024.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Poster Presentations:

All members and nonmembers are encouraged to submit an abstract to present a poster showcasing their current and most exciting research in toxicology.

Platform Presentations:

Platform presentations will be selected from all submitted abstracts. If selected, presenters should prepare, in addition to their poster, a 15-minute presentation and plan for 5 minutes for discussion.

Important Notes:

  • Abstracts will be considered for both poster and platform presentations
  • Selected platform presenters will be notified in advance
  • All accepted abstracts will be presented as posters
  • Platform presenters are encouraged to also display a poster
  • Please ensure your abstract adheres to the formatting guidelines and submission deadlines below.

We look forward to showcasing the latest toxicology research at our upcoming meeting.

Abstract Submission:

Submit abstracts as Microsoft Word attachments via email to:

  • Dr. George (Trey) Howell (Vice President)
  • Dr. Gunnar Boysen (Vice President-Elect)
  • Please enter “SCCSOT abstract” in the subject line of your email.
Also, indicate whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student or postdoctoral fellow.

Abstract format: All abstracts should be less than 250 words (not including the title and author list), left justified and single-spaced with text in 11 pt. Arial font (symbols and special characters allowed). The title should be in all capital letters and bolded. Follow the title with a list of the authors (including first and last name) on the second line, then their institutional affiliations in sentence case (1st letter of word capitalized, except for conjunctions and prepositions). Place an asterisk in front of the name of the person presenting. Then, skip one line and type the body of the abstract. The abstract plus title/author lines should fit within a space no larger than 6 inch width X 4.5 inch height.

Then at the end, indicate the:

Award category for presenter
______ High School/Undergraduate student
______ Graduate student
______ Non-student non-faculty (technicians and postdoctoral fellows)
EXAMPLE:
AN EXAMPLE TITLE AND AUTHORSHIP WITH INSTITUTIONAL AFFILIATION.

*William M. Doe (First author) and Sean A. Deer (Second author). Center for Amazing Toxicology Research, College of Medicine, University of Medicine, City, State.
This is the first sentence of the abstract and is flush left and of 6 inches width. It goes on and on…, but no longer than to fill a width of 4.5 inches, including title. It generally concludes with source of support for this research, if applicable, in parentheses like this. (Support: Deep Pockets Fund)
