2018 OVSOT Fall Meeting

SAVE THE Date!! –– Friday, November 30, 2018 (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM)

Location:  Kosair Charities Clinical & Translational Research Building; University of Louisville; 505 S. Hancock St., Louisville, KY 40202

Special Activities: Lunch with an Expert, Keynote Speaker, Networking, Student and Postdoc Platform and Poster Presentations

Benefits of Attending the OVSOT Meeting

The Annual OVSOT meeting is a great opportunity to network with colleagues in the same geographical region and to contribute to the development of future toxicologists by interacting with our students and trainees.

This year’s meeting will feature Dr. Aruni Bhatnagar, Ph.D., Director, Envirome Institute, Univ. of Louisville.

The meeting agenda will also include student and postdoc platform and poster presentations and “Lunch with an Expert."

Please note that you do not have to be a member of OVSOT to attend the meeting. The OVSOT Annual Meeting provides an inexpensive opportunity for students of all levels (undergraduate, MS, PhD, postdocs). Help us spread the word and encourage your colleagues, lab personnel, students, and postdocs to attend!

Abstract Submission and Awards

Abstract Deadline: Saturday, October 27th

Awards: OVSOT will award prizes for Best Platform Presentation at the Predoctoral and Postdoctoral levels and Best Poster Awards at the Undergraduate, MS, PhD, and Postdoctoral levels. Please see our awards page for more details.

Poster Presentations

Poster board dimension are 48 inches (4 feet) in height x 72 inches (6 feet) in width. Please prepare and print posters to fit within these dimensions.  We will provide push pins.

Rooms can be reserved at any local hotel, here are a few close by:
1. Home2 Suites (approx. $119/night; 3 blocks away, light traffic);
2. AC Hotel by Marriott (approx. $169/night; 6-7 blocks, light traffic)
3. SpringHill Suites by Marriott (approx. $119/night; shuttle service; 6-7 blocks, heavy traffic)

Parking

Off street parking is available in a garage adjacent to the Kosair Charities CTRB but it is not free.

Lunch with an Expert

The Ohio Valley Chapter will again hold an informal lunch event to encourage interactions between students and professional toxicologists serving in government, industry, academia, and consulting. Any professionals willing to participate can indicate their interest during the registration process or by contacting Dan Conklin (dj.conklin@louisville.edu).

Undergraduate Student Travel Support

Through a Pilot Project hosted by the SOT Undergraduate Subcommittee funding is available to support undergraduate student travel to the OVSOT meeting. Please contact Eddie Sloter (Eddie.sloter@crl.com) for details.
