Past Annual Meetings 2024 Annual Fall Meeting Friday, October 25 • University of Louisville, Louisville, KY On Friday, October 25, 2024, The Ohio Valley Chapter of the Society of Toxicology held its in-person full-day meeting on the campus of the University of Louisville. All members were encourage to attend and participate. This meeting included trainee presentations (posters and platforms), featured speakers, as well as networking and career development opportunities. 2022 Annual Fall Meeting Friday, October 14, 2022 • University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky The Ohio Valley Chapter of the Society of Toxicology held its Annual Meeting at the University of Louisville on Friday, October 14, 2022. This one-day in-person meeting offers a venue to network with toxicologists from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. In addition, students, trainees and new investigators will have an opportunity to present their research and compete against their peers for prizes in different categories including best poster and best platform presentation. This meeting is open to all OVSOT members as well as non-members who are interested in becoming part of this diverse group of scientists from academia, industry and government. The top 3 abstracts in each category were chosen for a 3–5-minute oral presentation to the attendees and judges. Everyone could provided a poster for viewing by OVSOT membership in the poster gallery. The winners of the Student and Postdoctoral Fellow platform competitions serve as representatives on the OVSOT Executive Committee for one year and received a cash award applied toward registration and representing OVSOT at the 2022 SOT Annual Meeting. 2020 OVSOT Fall Meeting Friday, November 6, 2020 • Virtual/8.5 Hours The 2020 meeting was virtual and featured a presentation by Dr. Demetra Antimisiaris who examined hidden medication harms, even when medications are used appropriately and with good intent. She also discussed molecular, pathophysiologic, and longitudinal polypharmacy exposures. The objectives of her lecture: (1) Differentiate a geriatric syndrome from a common disease of aging; (2) Identify a drug induced pathophysiologic condition often misdiagnosed as organic disease; and (3) Describe an example of hidden medication impact on pharmacodynamics or pharmacokinetics. The event also featured presentations and competitions with cash awards for student and postdocs, as well as the “Tox on the Clock” activity. This meeting featured with the presentation by Dr. Karen VanderMolen and Dr. Vincent Sica. They shared the time slot as Karen covered safety and Vincent discussed the importance of analytical characterization of botanical raw material. The title of their talk was “The Importance of Analytical Partnerships in Evaluating Botanical Safety.” Please note that you do not have to be a member of OVSOT to attend the meeting. The OVSOT Annual Meeting provides an inexpensive opportunity for students of all levels (undergraduate, MS, PhD, postdocs).
