President’s Message Welcome to the South Central Chapter (SCC) of the Society of Toxicology (SOT)! Our regional chapter serves those interested in toxicology in the region of Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This truly offers a platform for interactions among toxicologists from government, industry, and academia by sponsoring and organizing scientific and educational programs in toxicology in the region. It is a privilege and honor to serve as the 2021–2022 South Central Regional Chapter President and I am deeply humbled by this opportunity. On behalf of the 2021–2022 leadership team of the South Central Regional Chapter, Dr. Mitchell McGill (Vice President), Dr. Jia-Long Fang (Vice President-Elect), Dr. Dongying Li (Secretary), Dr. George Howell (Treasurer), Dr. Russell Carr (Past President), Dr. Courtney Roper (Councilor), Dr. Aditya Joshi (Councilor), Dr. Rashmi Pathak (Postdoctoral Representative), and Ms. Rakeysha Pinkston (Graduate Student Representative), I want to write a few words to introduce the chapter and provide some information about our activities. Participating in an SOT Regional Chapter is key to exploring common connections with other members and maximizing the benefits of your SOT membership. You can learn about SCC meetings, awards, governance, educational outreach, and more by navigating our left-hand toolbar on this website. As a South Central member, you will discover new opportunities for communication, collaboration, and connection with your fellow members. Last year, on November 13, 2020, we held a virtual regional chapter meeting, which included two keynote speeches delivered by distinguished toxicologists from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA). There were also scientific presentations from undergraduate students, graduate students, and non-student/non-faculty members. This year we are planning to have a hybrid (in-person and virtual) regional chapter meeting in the fall of 2021. Please stay updated for the call for abstracts and other information related to this event by visiting our website frequently. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your 2021–2022 South Central Regional Chapter Leadership Officials. Wishing everyone a safe and scientifically productive year!
