Graduate Student Best Abstract Award

Each year, students of Arab origin will be given an award for their presentation at the SOT annual meeting. Winners will receive a plaque for outstanding scientific research in the toxicological sciences. The ATA-SIG awards committee will determine the number of awards presented and the winners each year. By default, applicants will be considered for DR. BURHAN GHANAYEM Outstanding Graduate Research Award.

* A graduate student of Arab origin

* An SOT and ATA member

* Submit a copy of the SOT-accepted abstract, including SOT Abstract Number

* Submit a letter of recommendation from a mentor (not to exceed one page)

* Submit a current curriculum vitae

* Not have already received an ATA-SIG award for the previous two years

Distinguished Scientific Presentation Award

This award is given to Arab origin postdoctoral fellows who have demonstrated outstanding scientific work to advance our understanding of toxicology. Postdoctoral fellows will receive a plaque award as a recognition and celebration of their contribution to the toxicological sciences that embody the ATA-SIG mission.

To be eligible for this award, an applicant must/ must be:

* A postdoctoral fellow of Arab origin

* A postdoctoral fellow or junior tenure-track faculty member at a university or college

* An SOT and ATA member

* Submit a copy of the SOT-accepted abstract, including SOT Abstract Number

* Submit two letters of recommendations and one letter must be from the applicant's research advisor/mentor (not to exceed one page)

* Submit a current curriculum vitae

* Not have already received an ATA-SIG award for the previous two years.

Best Publication

The Best Publication award will be presented at the SOT Annual Meeting during the Awards Ceremony. Papers that will be eligible for the Best Publication award will be those published in the previous one calendar year (e.g., the next SOT annual meeting on 2022). The paper should be published / or accepted from January 1st, 2021, up to December 31st, 2021). The recipient(s) will receive a certificate as a recognition of the outstanding and contribution to the toxicological science that embodies the ATA-SIG mission.

To be eligible for this award, an applicant must/ must be:

* An applicant of Arab origin

* A SOT and ATA member

* Submitted a copy of the accepted paper in the peer-review journal

* Submit two letters of recommendations and one letter must be from the applicant's research advisor/mentor (not to exceed one page)

* Submit a current curriculum vitae

* Not have already received an ATA-SIG award for the previous two years.

Outstanding Professional Award

Outstanding Professional Award is given to a young investigator of Arab origin who contributes significantly to understand and advance the toxicological science. A young investigator whose work exemplifies the mission of ATA-SIG will be given a plaque and a recognition certificate.

To be eligible for this award, an applicant must/ must be:

* An applicant of Arab origin

* A SOT and ATA member

* Have 5-10 years of full-time employment experience since completing the highest degree (including postdoctoral fellow training)

* Actively involved in toxicology research at the time of applying for this award

* Submit a current curriculum vitae

* Not have already received an ATA-SIG award for the previous three years

* Submit a letter that demonstrated the following at a minimum:

- Outstanding Service to the College/University, including serving as a committee member, an officer, a counselor, and/or frequent participation and contribution at any other College activity or Annual Meeting (i.e., chairperson, organizing committee, speaker, etc.)

- Evidence supporting the active mentoring of toxicologists (i.e., graduate students and postdoctoral fellows)

DR. BURHAN GHANAYEM Outstanding Graduate Research Award

Deadline: January 8

Please submit nominations to: Amira Mohammed

This award recognizes and celebrates a graduate student's success in carrying out high-quality research in Toxicological Sciences. The recipient of the award will receive $500 and a plaque. Selection will be based on the presentation during the SOT annual meeting. Applicants, who have unexpected travel difficulties, can notify ATA Committee and state if they wish to present virtually instead. Applicants must include their component poster or platform presentation with the other required documents of the Graduate Student Best Abstract Award to ATA. The component poster or platform presentation can be submitted no later than two weeks before the hosted SOT annual meeting.
