President’s Message

Dear ASIO members and Well Wishers,
Hope all is well. I am sure everyone is enjoying the bright and hot summer weather (although I feel it’s a bit too much, once in a while!). As the new President of ASIO-SOT for 2025-2026, it is a great pleasure and honor for me to pick up the Presidential baton from Dr. Sudin Bhattacharya. Thanks to the 2024-2025 executive leadership team we have had a successful annual meeting at Orlando, FL. Now the new Executive Committee (EC) team is excited and looks forward to this upcoming year’s annual SOT meeting in San Diego, California. This year we are happy and would like to welcome the newly elected EC team consisting of Dr. Neera Tewari-Singh as Vice-President, Dr. Smita Salian-Mehta as Vice President-Elect, Dr. Shanthi Ganesan as Secretary/Treasurer, Dr. Prajakta Shimpi as Senior Councilor, and Dr. Swati Rawat as Junior Councilor. Thanks for continuing your contributions, Dr. Sadiya Bi Shaikh as the Postdoctoral Representative and Rahul Kumar as the Graduate Student Representative. Special thanks to the wonderful outgoing team members: Dr. Ashwini Phadnis Moghe (Past President), Dr. Aditya Joshi (Senior Councilor), and Dr. Shama Ahmed (Secretary/Treasurer).
The ASIO reception at the annual SOT meeting in 2025 in Orlando, FL was a great success, filled with insightful discussions and interactions between all our toxicologists, mentors, and mentees. At this meeting we also had our “Talk with Toxperts” session comprising of a very fulfilling panel of Toxicologists: Dr. Logeswari Ponnusamy (Principal Scientist Manager Toxicology, Zoetis Animal Health), Dr. Sanket Gadhia (Staff Toxicologist, Tesla), and Dr. Yogesh Saini (Professor of Pulmonary Immunology and Toxicology, North Carolina State University). During this session the questions brought forth by the participants and the responses from the panel members were thought provoking and added an interesting flavor to the discussions. This event was a well-set platform for career guidance and professional networking! I would like to congratulate all the award winners of 2024-2025 (KUDOS!), and I would also like to sincerely acknowledge and THANK all the endowment sponsors and other sponsors who have generously contributed to the ASIO endowment funds.
We, as the new EC team, are very excited for SOT 2026 in San Diego, CA. We are looking forward to contributing our best for the growth of ASIO and hope to do our best for the ASIO Tox community.
Sincerely,
Adhithiya Charli, PhD
