President’s Message

Dear ASIO Members,

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the remaining days of summer. It is a great pleasure and honor for me to serve as the President of the Association of Scientists of Indian Origin (ASIO-SOT) for 2026–2027. I am grateful to pick up the presidential baton from Dr. Adhithiya Charli and sincerely thank him for his leadership, dedication, and contributions to ASIO-SOT over the past year.

The 2026 ASIO-SOT Annual Meeting in San Diego was a great success, providing an excellent forum for scientific exchange, networking, mentorship, and professional development. I am grateful to all our members, speakers, participants, and supporters who contributed to making the meeting such a success. Building on this momentum, our new Executive Committee is excited about the year ahead and looks forward to seeing everyone at the 2027 SOT Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

I am delighted to welcome our new Executive Committee for 2026–2027: Dr. Smita Salian-Mehta, Vice President; Dr. SenthilKumar PK, Vice President-Elect; Dr. Shanthi Ganesan, Secretary/Treasurer; Dr. Adhithiya Charli, Past President; Dr. Swati Rawat, Senior Councilor; Dr. Milan Prajapati, Councilor; Dr. Ishita Virmani, Postdoctoral Representative; and Mr. Mrinal Patnaik, Graduate Student Representative. I look forward to working closely with this wonderful team to continue strengthening ASIO-SOT and expanding opportunities for our members at all career stages.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the outgoing leadership and especially to Dr. Adhithiya Charli for his service as President and for helping guide ASIO-SOT through another successful year. His contributions have provided a strong foundation for the new Executive Committee.

Our continued success would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and partners. We greatly appreciate their commitment to ASIO-SOT and to supporting scientific exchange, professional development, mentorship, and networking within our community.

As we begin this new year, I look forward to working with all of you to further advance the mission of ASIO-SOT, foster collaborations, support our trainees and early-career scientists, and strengthen the connections among scientists of Indian origin and the broader toxicology community.
