SOT 59th Annual Meeting Update
March 27, 2020
With the success of the first three 2020 SOT Virtual Meeting webinars, in which nearly 1,000 people participated, we are pleased that live webinar presentations of Scientific Sessions will continue through June 2020. In addition, many of the 2020 Continuing Education courses have been scheduled as live webinars, with course registrants automatically enrolled in these virtual offerings. Most Scientific Sessions are being presented on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm (ET), while Continuing Education courses are being presented on Fridays between 12:00 noon and 3:30 pm (ET). The full list of scheduled sessions and courses is available on the “Virtual Meeting Program” web page, which is being regularly updated as activities are finalized.
You probably know that the Annual Meeting accounts for most of the Society’s revenue each year. Obviously, the meeting cancellation is part of a much larger economic situation that involves all vendors with which we contract for our Annual Meeting services: hotels, caterers, security, audio/visual, and others. While we have heard from some of these vendors, many are still determining what they will return or what they believe they are still owed. In the meantime, we continue to examine registration refunds. All refunds will be completed by June 30, 2020—although we hope to complete the process sooner. If you have not done so already, remember to complete the Annual Meeting Registration Request form to indicate if you would like to donate your 2020 registration, transfer your 2020 registration to 2021, or receive a refund.
Remember that we are updating the meeting FAQs each week to provide additional information and details related to the meeting’s cancellation and virtual activities.
And for those who were planning to present a poster during the 2020 meeting, if you have not done so already, upload a PDF of your poster to the ePosters gallery, available on the SOT Event App and the Online Planner. All presenting (first) authors have received email instructions on how to upload an ePoster. If you need assistance uploading your poster, contact SOT Headquarters via email.
