Annual Past Presidents’ 5K Fun Run/Walk

Monday March 1–Friday March 26, 2021

Whether you are a beginner looking to complete your first 5K, an experienced distance runner, a casual walker, or somewhere in between, you are invited to participate in the Virtual 2021 SOT Past Presidents’ Fun Run/Walk! This event is a great opportunity to get outside, get active, and have some fun.

How does a Virtual Fun Run/Walk work?

Rather than having a set date, time, and location, you complete your distance anytime, anywhere, between Monday, March 1, and Friday, March 26. SOT is partnering with the RaceJoy app to register and track your participation. By using RaceJoy, participants also can record official race times for use in future race events.

Achieving miles together

Do you want to run more than a 5K? You set your own goals and can complete your desired distance in one session or in multiple segments! The overall goal for the entire SOT community is 250 miles!

Participation is free, with the race being completed any time between Monday, March 1, and Friday, March 26.

How do I sign up?

Registration is FREE and should be completed online.

After registering, you will be issued a bib number—you will need this bib number for your RaceJoy setup in order to have your data submitted from the app. If you do not want to use the RaceJoy app, you can manually submit your finish time through the Fun Run/Walk web page.

Tracking your run through RaceJoy

To automatically have your running/walking included in the Fun Run/Walk—or to record an official time for use in other races—you will need to download the RaceJoy app to your phone and activate tracking on the day(s) that you complete your race. Through RaceJoy, access the Society of Toxicology Past Presidents’ Fun Run/Walk event, select “I Want to Be Tracked,” and follow the on-screen prompts. If you need additional assistance, RaceJoy has a How-To Guide with setup instructions.

Some key RaceJoy features are:

GPS Progress Alerts:Receive continual progress updates as you complete your goal.
Live GPS Tracking:Remote spectators can track your progress live in a map view. You also can track others.
Send-a-Cheer:Receive supportive audio cheers from remote friends and family.
Virtual Results:Enter your race-assigned bib number to automatically submit your finish data for real-time scored results.

You also are encouraged to capture your race experience and submit your photos on the SOT Fun Run website.

Supporting the future of toxicology

Normally, proceeds from the Past Presidents’ 5K Fun Run/Walk support the SOT Endowment Fund. Since this year’s event is free, if you wish to contribute to the SOT Endowment Fund, you can complete an online donation.
