What is Toxicology?

Toxicology is the study of the adverse effects of chemical, physical, or biological agents on people, animals, and the environment.

Toxicologists are scientists trained to investigate, interpret, and communicate the nature of those effects.

Did You Know?

During the 1960s, increased environmental concern lead Congress to enact legislation creating the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1970. The US EPA became the umbrella group for environmental health agencies that were previously scattered under many state and federal government agencies. The US EPA is responsible for protecting environment and human health and is one of the largest employers of toxicologists and environmental scientists.
