In 2011, SOT leadership through the Society’s committee and group structure also submitted items to be included in a time capsule that will be opened in celebration of the Society’s 75th anniversary in 2036.
- Society of Toxicology: The First Fifty Years: This compilation is comprised of stories that were written by the Society’s Past Presidents and leaders. The book is but a slice of the history of toxicology.
- Building for the Future: Toxicology Training Centers: This publication was written by a group of dedicated educators who have devoted their careers to training future toxicologists. The collection does not cover all of the toxicology centers around the world, but is representative of the vast array of programs that are available to undergraduate and graduate students everywhere.
- Historical Perspectives: This publication brings to light a vast array of perspectives about the science of toxicology and people who have dedicated their careers to it. These stories cover a variety of topics, including risk assessment, genotoxic and epigenetic carcinogens, microsomal enzyme induction, toxicologic pathology, and the National Library of Medicine and its toxicology and environmental health program.
- Toxicological Sciences: 50th Anniversary Special Issue: To celebrate the Society’s first 50 years, its official journal, Toxicological Sciences, published a special issue, featuring articles by SOT members and other scientists on topics of importance to toxicology’s past and future.
