A blue rosette ribbon is sitting on a gray background. The middle of the rosette contains the SOT Salus. The SOT Salus represents safety and protection from poison through increasing knowledge and is shaped in a circle. The border of the circle is a thick black line with a thinner black line along its inside. In a curve along the top half of the circle following the circle’s edge are the words Society of Toxicology in all capital letters. Along the bottom of the circle is the date 1961 offset by two small hallow circles. Another circle border appears after this text ring. Inside this circle is a large shield touching the edges of this inner circle; this shield represents protection. Filling the space outside the shield and within the inner circle are radiating straight lines meant to depict force manifesting itself. Placed vertically in the center of the shield is a feathered arrow with the point pointing to the top of the shield/circle; the arrow is meant to symbolize “toxicum” or the poisoned arrow. Appearing beside the feathers at the bottom of the arrow are two wreath strands which symbolize success. Below the point of the arrow is a ribband containing the word Salus in all capital letters; the ribband denotes pre-eminence while Salus is Latin for safety.
